That  is it and what for  serve a philosophical consultant?

Philosophical consulting, also called counseling or counseling, is a contemporary movement in  practical philosophy . Developed since 1980, philosophers specializing in philosophical counseling offer their philosophical counseling or consulting services to individuals.  seeking a comprehensive understanding of their lives, or simply guidance and guidance on how to face and solve specific problems.

It has often been said that the movement has its roots in the Greek tradition of Socrates,  better known as maieutics (the art that aims to help conceive)  who saw philosophy as a search for the good, for beauty and for the just and good life according to  the order  of the nature.

For Socrates, Plato and Aristotle  a life, world or cosmos  not observed, examined and reported  by human conscience  is a sin  sense.

In the preamble to the NPCA (American Philosophical, Counseling, and Psychotherapy Association) Standards of Practice, it is stated that a philosophical counselor helps clients clarify, articulate, explore, and understand philosophical aspects of their belief systems or views of the world.

Clients can seek advice in exploring philosophical problems related to topics such as an emotional crisis, a career change, stress, dilemmas in important decisions, death, temporality, the meaning of life,  morality and other problems that put existence at stake,  comprehension  and relationship of the world and man, their cultures, their art, their science, their nature, their spirituality, their history and their study methods.

The activities of philosophical practice include:

  1. Examination of clients' arguments and justifications.

  2. The clarification, analysis and definition of relevant terms and concepts.

  3. The exposition and examination of assumptions and logical implications.

  4. The instruction  by a guide  who by not being part of a conflict can process their thoughts more freely and clearly than someone to whom a misfortune happens or  intimate conflict and of which he cannot speak in all his environments.

  5. The  mediation  is an alternative method to the law of  resolve conflicts, which has the intrinsic purpose of reaching a comprehensive solution to a disagreement  between participants, thus avoiding reaching the judicial instance, which could  be more expensive than profitable, thus avoiding the greater negative possibility, because if a problem had been deliberated and meditated before then a better solution would have been found,  therefore the mediation  too  It has been called  "previous" stage referring to  to the justice of the state and appealing to a wisdom  individual less mechanical  than obsolete judicial apparatus and systems.

  6. The guiding principles that guide and implement the mediation stage are: confidentiality, orality between the parties and full communication between them, the impartiality of the intervening mediator and the neutrality of the same regarding the matter brought into question,  or are they  under stress  and pressure to make better long-term options.

  7. The exploration of traditional philosophical theories and their importance to client affairs.

  8. The practical, evident and clear resolutions of errors of thought and the referral of problems to professionals in the different areas of knowledge, health and the law.

  9. Proposition  and exposure of any  other activity that has historically been identified as useful  and there is  solved social and human problems in a universal way.

  10.   A good example of this can be the well-identified and well-studied religious, moral and etymological fallacies that still afflict many today even when  should not,  for they are in opposition to our understanding  philosophical, scientific  and human (heritage of all as healthy  for our best life as a species) waste of the progress we have made in the intellect and whose  specific name, superstition, is  the cause that even today thoughts so incongruous with our way of life proliferate  such as: racism, gender intolerance, economic differences,  bad decisions  environmental issues and the abuse of power by those who possess it, among others.

A good example of all that has been said can  see it in the Spanish film 7 years where four friends have founded a company together, which is currently in decline. That is why, overnight, they are forced to find a solution that can save their company and their lives. Thus  They face an important question: who will sacrifice seven years of freedom to go to prison and save the rest in this way?
